London's businesses start hiring again

London businesses are set to relaunch their recruitment programmes over the next six months as their hopes for the economy rise, a CBI survey said today.

A total of 45% of London firms expect to hire as normal over the next six months, compared with 11% a year ago, respondents to the CBI/KPMG poll decalred.

Although there is still uncertainty about the economy and the impact of public spending cuts, firms view their prospects with more optimism.

The survey found 54% were upbeat about prospects for the next six months compared with only 12% pessimistic.

Sara Parker, CBI's regional director for London said: "Companies are ending hiring freezes and recruit normally again."
