What’s in a name for tweet Jemima Goldsmith?
05 January 2011
However, Jemima Khan, leader of the Assange arrestocracy, who divorced Imran Khan in 2004, has made a small but significant change to her Twitter feed. On 28 December she wrote: "FYI — I've changed my user name to @JemimaGoldsmith. It was time. Mostly though I was bored of people asking."
Which surname will Jemima, who writes for the Telegraph, opt for as her byline?
Dave's freeview research
Jeremy Hunt must not seek the counsel of anyone in the Cabinet, least of all David Cameron, in reaching a verdict on Rupert Murdoch's buyout of BSkyB.
But there's no harm in Dave's keeping abreast of the issues. Over the new year he was seen doing, um, market research near his Witney constituency.
"David Cameron looking at Freeview boxes in Comet in Ayelsbury [sic]" read a posting on EyeSpyMP.
Booking time off from the blogs
2011 marks 50 years in business for Private Eye. Adam Macqueen, who oversees the Street of Shame column, is writing a history of the mag to coincide.
In fact, he's so hard at work, the blog he started writing on the Eye's website in 2009 has been untouched for almost a year.
His last entry: "Radio silence likely to continue for some time because, as you may have guessed, I'm now quite heavily engaged in writing the actual book"
New string to bow of Archers casualty
Archers fans who are mourning the loss of Nigel Pargeter — killed off in Sunday's extended special episode by tumbling from his roof — can cheer themselves up by seeing actor Graham Seed, who played the character for 30 years, in the flesh. From February 1, Seed stars in Accolade, on at the Finborough Theatre in Fulham. He lives!
Happy Meals for a happy day
George Pascoe-Watson, former political editor of The Sun, marries Natalie Kirby this weekend. The pair met when GPW was in the Lobby (he now works for spinners Portland) and Kirby was working for William Hague. She quit before the general election to spin for McDonald's. So it's Happy Meals and congratulations all round, then.
