Power surges help fuel 40% leap at Spice

Volatile and expensive energy markets are proving good news for utility services group Spice.

"Our results are booming and they will continue to do so," said chief executive Simon Rigby after reporting a 40% rise in pre-tax profits to £17 million in the year to the end of April with a 50% uplift in the dividend to 6p.

Rigby said Spice is doing well from advising companies on how best to manage their energy needs, and working for gas and electricity suppliers to make sure customer bills are correctly priced.
