Relaunch flop sparks Sport sell-off hint

Phew! What a shocker! The Daily Sport looks to be up for sale again after a catastrophic relaunch that has seen sales plummet even further, down 11% last month to just 85,000.

The failure of the April relaunch sparked a further crash today in the shares of new owner Sport Media, down 4½p to 16½. That prompted the company, formerly Interactive Media, to announce "a strategic review of all options" - City code for inviting potential buyers.

The Daily Sport was sold by porn barons David Sullivan and the Gold brothers for £50 million last year when Interactive raised £40 million from new shares priced at 75p.
