Richard Ford quits stockbroker WH Ireland

Stockbroker WH Ireland was today looking for a new boss after chief executive Richard Ford quit.

Ford said he will leave at the end of August while finance director Nigel Gurney plans to follow him out the door in November.

WH Ireland said it is "already in discussions with a number of potential candidates" to replace the pair.

Ford joined the company two years ago and has been credited with steering it through the financial crisis and global recession.

City analysts expect it to make a profit this year following two years of losses.

Chairman Rupert Lowe said: "Due to the difficult economic environment it has been a challenging two years, but our prospects are better now than at any time in the recent past."
