Rock Well puts London listing plans on hold

Rock Well Petroleum today postponed its proposed float on the London stock market because of "volatile and difficult market conditions".

But the North American oil developer said it remained optimistic about its prospects. It is in advanced discussions with an institutional investor to secure private financing, allowing it to progress with its business strategy. It had hoped to raise between $300 million (£151 million) and $500 million.

Listings in London and elsewhere have dried up since last autumn because of the credit and equity market turmoil.
