Staffline makes a good job of it

BLUE-collar recruitment firm Staffline today proved the outlook for the staffing industry is not entirely gloomy, announcing it expects to beat earnings forecasts for the year.

New contract wins and cost-cutting moves mean that the food-industry specialist has enjoyed a better first ten months of the year than anticipated despite tough trading conditions.

Its performance has also been helped by acquisitions. Chief executive Andy Hogarth said that the group will be on the look out for further takeover opportunities.

Staffline has cut a fifth of its employees this year and slimmed its branch network to reduce spending.
