Love rat Marc Bannerman went into hiding today, quashing reports that he would fly back to Australia to greet Cerys Matthews from ITV1's I'm A Celebrity jungle.
The ex-EastEnders actor, 34, is with author friend Martina Cole at a secret location in Essex. He plans to record a video message that the singer will see when she is either evicted from, or wins, the reality series.
Cerys and Bannerman flirted in the jungle although he had a girlfriend, actress Sarah Matravers. A show insider said: "Marc has no plans to fly back to Australia to meet Cerys when she leaves. He is meant to be filming a short video message. I have no idea what he will say."
A source at ITV said: "He is not speaking to anyone. It's like he's in meltdown. He must be pretty mixed-up."
Meanwhile, Matthews, 38, was said to be "gutted" that she denied her fellow celebrities a proper evening meal.
She won just two meals in her Bushtucker Trial in which she had to swing across a lake to collect stars tangled in vines.
