Five housemates up for eviction
25 January 2007
Dirk, Cleo, Shilpa, Ian and Jo face the public vote and two of them will be evicted during the live Channel Four shows on Friday, at 8.30pm and 10.30pm.
But it is former housemate Jade Goody, evicted last Friday, who continues to dominate the headlines.
The 25 year old - who was accused of racist bullying aimed at Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty during her stay in the house - announced yesterday she was to tour India.
Talking on Five's The Wright Stuff Goody said she did not realise calling Shetty "Shilpa Poppadom" would be deemed racist.
She said: "I'm thinking about going over there because I've been invited over there. I don't know who by but they are high-up people.
"To some people I know, saying 'coloured' is OK. So I didn't think 'poppadom' was a racist thing to say."
The public reaction to her had been positive, Goody claimed. But she admitted her home had been vandalised as a result of the Celebrity Big Brother race row.
The shamed star said windows at her house in Ongar, Essex, were smashed. Neither she nor her two children were home at the time.
Yesterday former housemate and film director Ken Russell called Jade and her allies on the show Danielle Lloyd and Jo O'Meara "guttersnipes".
Russell, 79, was in Wales addressing a meeting of Asian film directors at the Welsh Assembly. The meeting was to promote Wales as a location for Bollywood movies.
Asked if he thought the way Shetty, 31, was bullied in the house was racially motivated, he told BBC Wales: "Yes, I've studied the programme and there's no doubt about it, Jade led the other two girls - who were just rather pretty, mindless ladies and, until she came in, doing no harm - into absolute bullies, like herself.
"And their language is just absolutely, well, they are just guttersnipes. I don't think Shilpa was expecting such treatment. I must say she stood up well to it. I hope she wins."
