Def Mix Weekender
Turnmills, EC1

Legendary New York house label Def Mix takes over Turnmills for the whole weekend for a one-off retrospective celebration of the important DJs and seminal music they've created over the past 20 years. Part of a Def Mix world tour (yes, really!), there are too many superb spinners in attendance to list even half of them, but this is a monster weekend of high-quality house music. Look out for originators such as Frankie Knuckles (Sunday) and David Morales (Saturday), who's joined by fellow veteran Danny Rampling, back out of "retirement" for one "last" session at the decks. Tonight sees Satoshi Tomiie and Hector Romero take to the turntables, accompanied by Pete Heller and Tom Stephan.
(020 7250 3409). Tonight-Sun, 10.30pm-7.30am.

How Does It Feel To Be Loved
Canterbury Arms, SW9

Northern Soul has always enjoyed a strong following in the capital, and now it's not just loved by scary vintage-wearing types obsessed with re-enacting the Sixties to the last detail. This Brixton party offers up Motown, Northern Soul and other Sixties favourites alongside a smattering of indie pop. There's a guest DJ tonight in the form of the Jesus & Mary Chain's Phil King.
(020 7740 6677). Tonight, 9pm-2am.

The Great British Indie Air Guitar Showcase
Islington Academy, N1

Under the auspices of the Feeling Gloomy team, who specialise in the sadder side of love-themed songs, tonight's pop-based party also offers a chance to see just how convincing today's top air guitarists can be. If you fancy taking part in the air guitar side of things, sign up at www.indieairguitar.com. Since they make their living out of misery, the Feeling Gloomy boys are big-heartedly giving something back by donating all proceeds from this event to the Samaritans.
(020 7288 4400). Sat 5 May, 7.30pm-4am.

GOSH! 07
The Big Chill House, N1

If you're a hip-hop lover, get ready for a major treat as Big Dada Records and You Don't Know promoters present a majestic urban mash-up. Roots Manuva performs both on the decks and on the mic, Deejay A La Fu appears, as does Skull Juice. Infinite Livez have a room to themselves, and there's a live set from grime pioneer, Wiley.
(020 7427 2540). Sat 5 May, 9pm-4am.
