There's a particularly exciting collection of breaks, beats and live antics tonight as Simian Mobile Disco take the stage in the main room. Housey, breaksy support comes from Annie Mac and Touche. Excellent and influential hip-hop night YoYo, which I don't usually mention because it's normally held on a Thursday at Notting Hill, takes over another room with YoYo bosses Seb Chew and Leo Greenslade joined by hot re-mixer Sinden and the delightfully named Titsworth. This long-running house institution continues what now seems like a rather the tradition of big names and big tunes. US house star Sandra Collins headlines tonight, helped out by supercool Dutchman Lucien Foort and Florida's Chris Fortier. Room two features the skills of consistently floorfilling duo King Unique.

The label that spearheaded the trip-hop phenomenon presents some superb and varied talents tonight. Human beatbox Beardyman pops up throughout the night as does Ollie Teeba of The Herbaliser. There's a live PA from underground MC Kid Sister and, most thrillingly for hip-hop heads, there's a set from DJ A-Trak, Canada's amazing turntablist and former DMC World Mixing Champion. The recently expanded Brixton venue hosts Higher Ground with Trevor Fung in the basement tonight. He explores the soulful side of house alongside Yam Who and Blackbeard. As for the main room, well, if you haven't seen X-Press 2 delivering their now-famous six-turntabled DJ-ing display, you really should. Celebrating the release of the lovely Buzzin' Fly Volume 4 compilation, which brings a more minimal, melodious take to his sound, Ben Watt takes the helm for a later than usual Sunday night rave-up. Watt is joined by long-time collaborator Chris Woodward playing the gentler side of techno as well as the deep underground house for which their regulars love them.
