Winter warmer: Hannah Holland joins Together Again's preview birthday bash at Turnmills

Look here too

The quality and quantity of clubs this weekend indicates clubland's unofficial 'month off' has been cancelled.

Together Again warms up for its second birthday on January 26 with a showcase of rising clubland stars.

Two of the irresistible party soundtracks that bubbled up from the underground in late 2007 - rowdy global ghetto rap and linking bassline music from the past 15 years - can be found at Turnmills.

Radioclit careers through Brazilian electro-rap (baile funk), Angolan/Portuguese rap spliced with clunky breakbeat (Kuduro) and grime, while Hannah Holland spins 'batty bass' (aka Bmore gutter and booty bass for your hips and ass) with support from MC Chickaboo. David E Sugar's reckless party electro is another highlight.

It's only three days since New Year's Eve but premier dubstep dance night DMZ, at Mass, is guaranteed to be busy. If there's one place to sample the all-conquering club sound of 2007, it's here: the DMZ crew focus on a top-quality sonic experience, immersing the dance floor in meditative electronic dub laced with reggae, garage, techno and rock.

The atmosphere is electric and welcoming, and the sound system reaches bone-juddering proportions for the centrepiece sets of scene pioneers Digital Mystikz (Mala and Coki) and Loefah, while Sgt Pokes expertly complements the music and stokes the dance floor.

The Doctor's Orders Live provides a gentle head-nodding reintroduction to clubbing with its mix of DJs and live rap. Gifted bilingual lyricist Yungun hosts PAs from UK rap pioneer Blak Twang, Sway's partner in crime Pyrelli and Vision Music showcasing conscious South London quintet IRS, complex trio Triple Darkness and mixtape star Mr Drastick. DJs include Vadim (BBE, Ninja Tune) with mesmerising, Eastern-tinged hip hop and ex-Scratch Pervert Mr Thing.

If we ever needed proof that London is the ultimate party city that never sleeps, then Sunday night/Monday morning's Wet Yourself provides it.

Wet Yourself is a staple of the Sunday night circuit, with its 'dirty booty electro minimal techno' attracting a flamboyant, mixed bunch of night-crawlers who resemble the notorious club kids of 1990s New York.

As most of us prepare for the first Monday morning of 2008, residents Cormac, Peter Pixzel and Husley & Gunz will resuscitate dance-floor zombies and a colourful cast of club freaks with some of the most cutting edge electronic music around.
