Kitchen W8
Too long and drawn out but very entertaining with excellent special effects
This is a peculiar play and does not work for me. Some of it is very funny but there are real flaws
Alex has a strong powerful voice and was faultless, she is far better now than she was on the X-Factor

Controversial: Reginald D Hunter always has something contentious to say
UK-based American Reginald D Hunter can always be relied upon to deliver a set littered with provocative ideas as well as laughs.
Earlier this year he caused controversy when some advertisers would not run his poster because it contained the word "niggas".
Despite no N word in the title here, there is still plenty to get steamed up about. This Edinburgh Festival transfer, F**k You In The Age Of Consequence, addresses Hunter's refusal to conform. He is a man who speaks first and deals with the fallout later, whether it is arguing with his girlfriend, correctly, over the cloyingness of Bridget Jones or, more contentiously, suggesting that Michael Jackson should be allowed to have sleepovers with boys if it means his songs will improve.
It is easy to see why Hunter rubs people up the wrong way. With his nimble charm and Atlanta drawl he could sleepwalk through his set and still be riveting. But he continually refused to play safe. Routines about rape and Anne Frank being racist demolished the taste barrier. A sparkle in his eyes suggested he was a little too pleased with himself as he elicited shocked gasps.
The night this critic saw him felt uncharacteristically perfunctory, with Hunter breezing through some brittle material as if he had a hot date backstage but he remained a commanding presence.
If you are broad-minded and want to see a comedian chart choppy waters, buckle in.
