Kitchen W8
Too long and drawn out but very entertaining with excellent special effects
This is a peculiar play and does not work for me. Some of it is very funny but there are real flaws
Alex has a strong powerful voice and was faultless, she is far better now than she was on the X-Factor

Observational: Todd Barry sees comedy in everyday scenarios
Cult television buffs may know Todd Barry as the power-crazed bongo player in Flight of the Conchords. Ricky Gervais certainly knows him. He has asked the compact New Yorker to support him at Madison Square Garden next month. Whatever you think of Gervais as a performer, he certainly has good taste in opening acts.
Barry is so beautifully arid he is positively parched. Yet he manages to take the most mundane subjects and weave richly absurd material. Ubiquitous Facebook gags are to comedy in 2008 what airport security gags were to comedy in 2005, 2006 and 2007, but his crotchety observations on cyberspace banality were a joy to behold.
Elsewhere, the 44-year-old's delivery scored further bullseyes. One minute he was reflecting on a bizarre visit to a Forrest Gump theme restaurant, the next he was recalling an inane conversation heard midstream in a urinal.
Cynics may suggest that he was trotting out well-honed riffs, but proceedings sprang to life when he spotted someone audaciously recording the gig to put on the net. The ad libbed put-downs were brilliant. Shame he'd turned off the fan's "Nokia Bootleg 5000î, otherwise you could all hear them.
