Turn up: Deborah Frances-White gets the response she wants

If you want to sell tickets, calling your show How To Get Almost Anyone To Want To Sleep With You: The Advanced Class is a simple, effective ruse. It certainly worked for Deborah Frances-White last night.

While a packed house for this Edinburgh Fringe preview did not learn as much as the teasing title promised, everyone departed having had a good giggle.

Frances-White takes Neil Strauss's notorious seduction guide The Game and deconstructs it, suggesting that any woman worth her salt will never fall for Strauss's tricks.

However, they might fall for a man with a broken heart, which is her suggested chat-up.

Aided by volunteers our assured host teaches men how to unleash their Inner Clooney. Shirts and playfulness help more than looks, apparently.

This is closer to restrained hen night fun than a philosophical disquisition on gender play. But Frances-White has a witty Jennifer Saunders-ish personality and certainly shows an audience a enjoyable time.

In fact everyone was having such a good time she did only half the set, never fully revealing how women can attract men.

"Turn up" is probably the time-saving answer to that conundrum.
