N2O is, of course, the chemical symbol for laughing gas - which is why Battersea Arts Centre uses it to label its annual comedy festival, a headrush of giggles.

The sketch troupe Pappy's Fun Club are the first to hyperventilate into this particular balloon of fun with two nights of eccentric skits (tonight, tomorrow), then next week the psychotically optimistic Josie Long, a comedian in tune with the times, takes over (9-12 February). She has curated four nights of wackiness, where you can make outfits, watch films in the world's smallest cinema, learn a new dance and watch Josie and her comedy friends be funny.

Other highlights include a Storytellers' Club (9 February), an evening lined up by Laughterinoddplaces, a company which organises happenings in unusual locations (15 February), top-drawer political comedy from Andy Zaltzman (23 February) and Mark Thomas (5-6 March), and expert raconteur Jeremy Hardy (27-28 February). And lots more besides.

Tonight until 7 March. Box office: 020 7223 2223; www.bac.org.uk

Details are correct at the time of publication - please check with venue before booking.
