Precious is a new-style weepie but one that is much more bracing than depressing

Ian McKellen is captivating throughout. He delights in the play’s gallows humour, yet is also maudlin and poignant

Slight quibbles notwithstanding, this will set the West End’s stock riding high

Utterly, utterly brilliant. You really are in for a treat
Though 'Trilogy' has won rave reviews, I personally found myself exasperated after about an hour
We went on a quiet sunday evening and the food was excellent, but the experience let down by the service and ambiance

Ricky Gervais loves Louis CK so much he cast him as his boozy buddy in The Invention Of Lying. CK was OK in the film but this American misanthrope is far better at brutal, self-mocking stand-up.
Unsurprisingly his quickfire weekend visit attracted packed houses of tuned-in comedy buffs, including Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow.
At first glance CK is peddling the same humour-of-recognition schtick as umpteen others, from Michael McIntyre down, yet this balding fortysomething does it so immaculately that it feels strangely refreshing. Not a breath was wasted as he angrily dissected the agonies of modern life.
Every event, profound or banal, was another opportunity to be irritated. From divorce and parenthood to flyers unbuckling before the aeroplane has stopped and drivers who honk horns without reason. The occasional Gervais-esque mime helped but it was the descriptive language that really mattered. On recalling a messed-up tramp, he remarked: “America happened all over his face.”
If there is a quibble it is that after
a vacuum-sealed, uncompromising 70 minutes CK simply clocked off, job done, and left the crowd wanting more. He came, he moaned, he conquered. No fuss, just lots of fun.

Louis CK is alot better than Michael McIntyre, in my opinion atleast. Its not funny voices or camp mannerisms, cliché after comedy cliché. It is a man, stood still on a stage, making you laugh so hard it feels like you're getting punched in the gut. People who come in here and see 'Dont compare him to Michael McIntyre' might view him as ANYTHING like Michael McIntyre and miss out. It is like comparing Lee Evans to Bill Hicks. They are different types of comedy. Louis CK doesn't leave the stage out of breath, but you leave the theatre trying to catch yours. Do yourselves a favour and watch as much as you can, he is nothing like Michael McIntyre. He's alot funnier.

I came down from Manchester for these shows, he was amazing. But please don't compare him to Michael McIntyre. Please.
