Camino, the award-winning Spanish bar and restaurant in King's Cross, has teamed up with Evening Standard Online again to offer one winner and guest a lazy Sunday brunch at Camino at 16:00 followed by two tickets to see the Barcelona-bred Ojos De Brujo perform their signature jipjop flamenkillo at the Roundhouse.
Opened in May 2007, Camino is known as London's true Hispanic hideaway. Meaning road or pathway', Camino brings together Spain's incredibly varied, regional food and drink under one happening roof. The restaurant offers a seasonal a la carte menu and all the food is as locally sourced as possible. Delicious dishes in the restaurant include sautéed spinach dumplings with Cabrales (blue cheese) sauce in February, or a cut of succulent Bilbao rump steak in April. Diners wanting a light Spanish snack can try one of the many authentic tapas available at the bar such as, Papas Arrugadas, Pimientos De Padrón and Salpicón De Pulpo. Camino's drink list is true to its Spanish roots, with a selection of the best Spanish wines, Sherries, cavas, beer, cocktails and homemade Sangria.
On Sunday 31 May, Ojos de Brujo will appear at Roundhouse to perform their first show in the UK since 2007. Ojos de Brujo, Barcelona's nine-man hip hop flamenkillo collective, present a fusion of flamenco, rumba, hip hop, dub and modern-sounding drum licks and bass lines to produce a sound only found in Barcelona. From the start, the band have had no label-backing yet sold over 100,000 copies of their self-produced Barí album, and received several awards, among these the BBC Radio 3 World Music Award for Europe in 2004. The winner and guest of this competition will have the chance to hear the live premiere of several tracks from their new album, Aocaná as part of La Linea 09 - the London Latin Music Festival. The passionate performance will also include a guest appearance from Peyoti for President, the five-man band made up of musicians from Brazil, Syria, Jamaica, India and Ireland who celebrate musical diversity via political punk.
