The Orange Award for New Writer's recognises emerging talent amongst the first works of female authors.
The Southbank Centre event on Monday 1st June will feature readings and discussions with the three shortlisted authors Francesca Kay, Nami Mun and Ann Weisgarber concluding with special guest Anne Michaels discussing her highly anticipated second novel "The Winter Vault".

ORANGE PRIZE FOR FICTION 2009 AT SOUTHBANK CENTRE
The Southbank Centre will host a series of events in June celebrating the 2009 Orange Prize for Fiction.
Anne Michaels and Orange Award for New Writers 2009' event will take place in 900 capacity, Queen Elizabeth Hall, on 1 June. The event will open with readings from the three shortlisted authors, Francesca Kay, Nami Mun and Ann Weisgarber, followed by discussion with host Lisa Jardine.
The evening will conclude with special guest, Anne Michaels, who won the Orange Prize in 1997 with her debut novel Fugitive Pieces. Anne will be discussing her long awaited second novel, The Winter Vault, with Lisa Jardine.
2 June sees the return of the hugely popular Orange Prize Shortlist Readings at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Chair of judges, Fi Glover, will host the event with shortlisted authors reading and discussing their work. The six authors are Ellen Feldman, Samantha Harvey, Samantha Hunt, Deirdre Madden, Marilynne Robinson and Kamila Shamsie. Final attendance will be confirmed closer to the event.
