The award aims to honour the show that has helped to define television in 2006, receiving critical acclaim through its original approach and capturing the publics imagination. This year the six nominees in with a chance of winning are: Planet Earth, Dragon's Den, Vicar of Dibley Christmas Special, Celebrity Big Brother (2006), Royal Family Christmas Special and Life on Mars.

The winner will be revealed at the star-studded BAFTA Television Awards, which will be held at The London Palladium on Sunday 20th May and broadcast on BBC One.

2. All winners must attend on the Natural History Museum on the evening of the 20.05.07 to receive their goody bag or be eligible to win the Pioneer plasma TVs
3. Pioneer reserves the right to refuse winners entry to the venue on the evening. No other prizes will be offered
4. Entry will be refused to anyone who appears to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs
5. Pioneer estimates that any prizes (the two plasma tv's) will be despatched within 3 months following the date of the event however this may be subject to change, following written notice by Pioneer
6. The prizes are subject to availability. Pioneer GB Limited may in its absolute discretion substitute or offer alternative product of equal or greater value.
