Win dinner and tickets to see Lenny Kravitz

Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and Fulham Palace have more than just location in common - they've both received funding from The National Lottery, and are part of the thousands of projects across Greater London, which together have been awarded more than £172 million in the last year alone.

While you may be familiar with some of the high profile projects that have received funding in London, like the British Museum or the Millennium Bridge, you may not know about the other local Good Causes in your community. There's likely to be a project just around the corner from where you live...

This week try and spot one of our giant Lottery balls which have been placed at projects like these all over London, to highlight where Lottery funding is going in your community.

To celebrate the difference Lottery money has made across London and the range of music and arts projects that have benefited, we're offering two lucky winners a great night out in the capital for them and a friend each - dinner and tickets to see Lenny Kravitz at the Carling Academy Brixton in August.

In London, funding for Shakespeare's Globe Theatre has enabled forty-eight thousand visitors to discover the famously rebuilt playhouse on the South Bank every month.

Meanwhile a Lottery grant for Fulham Palace has helped the venue to host forty-one cultural events since it reopened in November 2006, including jazz evenings, opera, book readings, lectures, outdoor theatre and pantomime performances.

Did you know that 28 pence from every pound you spend on the Lottery goes towards grants for projects like these, and thousands of other Good Causes across the UK? Over half of all Lottery grants are under £5,000, helping small projects make a big difference to people's lives.

Since the National Lottery began in 1994, over £20 billion has been raised for Good Causes in the UK – that's £25 million a week.

Competition closes April 14 - Usual This is London rules apply.
