Win La Scala tickets
07 April 2009
On Tuesday 14th April London audiences can enjoy a night at the opera at the cinema, with Rossini's acclaimed opera Il Viaggio a Reims streamed live from world-famous Italian opera house Teatro alla Scala into Curzon Mayfair amd Curzon Richmond cinemas.
Commissioned to celebrate the coronation of French King Charles X in Rheims in 1825, Il Viaggio A Reims has been critically acclaimed as one of Rossini's finest compositions, and is his last opera in the Italian language (all his later works were in French).
The true spirit of the Opera is perfectly captured by this visionary production from the internationally-renowned Teatro alla Scala, created by the minds of one of Europe's most influential and innovative directors, Italian Luca Ronconi (who directed Puccini's Il Trittico), and world-renowned Italian architect Gae Aulenti, who created sets and costumes.
Since its creation back in 1984, this production has become the quintessential stage production of Il Viaggio a Reims, and finally audiences in London have the chance to experience it.
The full-length production will be streamed live in high definition and surround sound into Curzon Mayfair and Curzon Richmond cinemas on Tuesday 14th April, from 7pm. Tickets from www.curzoncinemas.com
