Razorlight kicked things off, cheered on by Rob Brydon, and after the outstanding achievement award was presented by Sir Trevor Nunn to Sir Cameron Macintosh, Michael Ball serenaded the assembled luvvies with the Les Mis tearjerker 'Empty Chairs at Empty Tables'. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.
