CABARET MECHANICAL THEATRE
Cabaret Mechanical Theatre Kinetica Museum, Old Spitalfields Market, E1. Friday 11am-1pm; Saturday 2-4pm; Sunday 5-7pm

A feature of childhood trips to London used to be a visit to the delightful automata museum in Covent Garden Market, a trove filled with bizarre Heath Robinson-esque wooden contraptions which would spring to life at the crank of a handle. The museum sadly closed in 2000, but the exhibits return to London this weekend at the brand new Kinetica Museum of moving art, with workshops and demonstrations to show how it's all done. www. kineticamuseum.org

RUSSIAN WINTER FESTIVAL
Trafalgar Square, SW1 Saturday 11am-6pm
S novym godom. The Russians take over Trafalgar Square to celebrate the Old New Year (Julian calendar) with peasant dancing, puppetry, balalaika music, children's activities, "Cossack soul" and folk innovator Pelagia. www.eventica.co.uk /events/rwf/2007

OH YOKO
Riflemaker, 79 Beak Street, W1. Monday

The smash hit Riflemaker Becomes Indica exhibition sees contemporary art space Riflemaker celebrate legendary Sixties haunt Indica - where Yoko Ono, left, met John Lennon. It's a fascinating show juxtaposing old and new - and you know what? Yoko's stuff is pretty good. The Japanese conceptualist flies in to talk about art, Indica and, no doubt, the Beatles with John Dunbar on Monday. Booking essential. 020 7349 0000

BARRAFINA
54 Frith Street, W1. Daily.

This Barcelona-style tapas bar from siblings Sam and Eddie Hart serves modern Spanish finger food at a stylish stainless steel and marble counter, quickly and theatrically. The Hart brothers' posh Spanish joint Fino is much admired; expect similar standards here, and similarly excellent sherries. 020 7813 8010

GET IN THE RING
Bethnal Green Workin Men's Club, 42-44 Pollard Row, E2 Saturday 9pm-2am

A kitsch outrage, this extravagant night at this venerable venue combines fancy dress with oddball DJs Dead and Kisseyface, plus burlesque shows from Blanche DuBois and Miss Honey Moon. email: ohmygodimissyou @hotmail.com for info
