Germans might not be renowned for their great sense of humour, but when it comes to beer festivals, they're in a league of their own.
It's the world famous Cologne Carnival this weekend, and London's Bavarian Beerhouse is holding its own event to celebrate.
Bavarian dirndl wearing waitresses will serve steins of authentic beer including Paulaner lager, Erdinger wheat beer and Warsteiner, along with Bavarian delicacies bratwurst, sauerkraut and schnitzel.
DJ Paul's carnival songs from Cologne and Düsseldorf should ensure plenty of dancing, while spectacular fancy dress will make for a colourful evening.
Carnival at the Bavarian Beerhouse, 190 City Road, EC1V 2QH, February 16-17, from 7pm to 1am. Single tickets cost £10, and a table for 10 is £90. To book contact julia@bavarian-beerhouse.co.uk.
