East End Film Festival

The East End Film Festival returns on 19 April with a series of new films, workshops and performances reflecting East London's diversity and contribution to art.

Highlights include Lights, Couture, Action! at the lavish Hoxton Hall, in which local fashion designers will display their most theatrical outfits through specially commissioned performances by Wowow contributor Tamzin Brown.

The performance will be shown alongside boutique and designer show reels as well as new films by local artist Adham Faramawy and music from DJ Deany Seagulls.

There will also be an insight into the East London's heritage as East End on Film takes viewers on a visual tour of the area with an exhibition of photography and illustration.

Prolific film producer Andrew MacDonald and director Julien Temple will share their tips in a special masterclass and there will be a sneak preview of Temple's latest film Joe Strummer: The Future is Unwritten.

The festival opens with the world premiere of With Gilbert and George, Julian Cole's portrait of the colourful artistic double act, which took 17 years to film. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the director and music by the Broken Hearts.

The East End Film Festival takes place from 19 to 26 April 2007 at various venues throughout east London. Visit www.eastendfilmfestival.com for more details. To book tickets, call 020 7613 7498 or visit www.richmix.org.uk.
