Illuminating art: Jason Bruges with his installation Wind To Light at Queen Elizabeth Hall

This is the illuminating new arts project lighting up the banks of the Thames.

London artist Jason Bruges has installed mini wind turbines at Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank as part of a piece called Wind To Light.

When the wind blows, the turbines produce energy to power tiny bulbs, creating firefly-like fields of light.

Bruges, whose recent works include installations at Tate Modern and the V&A, said: "I hope it will prove thoughtprovoking as well as being an art piece."

The work was created for Architecture Week 2007, which runs from Friday until 24 June.

How did Jason Bruges transfer wind power to light power safely and make it rainproof? I want to power my outdoor Christmas lights by wind power ... perhaps a little turbine on top of the tree instead of a star, to power the lights safely at my school.

Wouldn't this be great new business to start? Eco Christmas... I'd buy some!
