Art lovers could bag a one-off work by Tracey Emin or the Chapman brothers for as little as £1 at a car boot art fair on Sunday.

The trio will be joined by more than 50 other artists including Ian Monroe, Gavin Turk and Sarah Baker as well as Sir Peter Blake in a mass art sale in Brick Lane that is expected to attract more than 6,000 visitors.

The artists will offer specially commissioned creations to the public out of the back of customised cars at the Old Truman Brewery. Prices start at £1 and go up to a maximum of £500.

Actor Rhys Ifans will be making an appearance with fashion designer Vivienne Westwood among the stallholders at the day-long fair, which will also feature burlesque performers, bands and an imported beach.

Curator Karen Ashton started the annual event three years ago as a way of allowing artists to sell their wares directly to the public, cutting out galleries and agents.

She said: "It's a unique opportunity to buy works from artists, who normally sell for thousands, for only a few pounds.

"Tracey Emin has attended since the first one, but this year she approached us and said she wanted to get involved. We don't know what she has created. Tracey has been very secretive about it, but we know she's been hard at work in her studio."

Sir Peter Blake, who created the Sgt Pepper's album cover for the Beatles, will be selling 54 prints based on a pack of playing cards for as little as £25.
