Carl Davis will be conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra through a series of 12 newly restored Charlie Chaplin films.

Back in 1916, Chaplin became the highest paid entertainer in the world on $670,000, which now equates to around £328,000, a paltry sum when compared to some modern-day entertainers.

This is the opening of four nights of short film showings, with each of the performances being introduced by famous Chaplin fans.

Television personality Paul Ross will introduce the first, veteran actor Richard Briers takes the reins for the second night and the third will be done by Chaplin's biographer David Robinson. Chaplin's son Michael is lined up to introduce the final evening's entertainment.

Also on the last night, award-winning conductor Davis will hold a Q & A session.
