Connie sings the praises of theatre deal for kids

Louise Jury, Evening Standard

Sound Of Music star Connie Fisher is backing a drive to persuade children to go to the theatre.

A two-week campaign starting 17 August offers a free child's place at many West End shows when they are accompanied by a full-paying adult. Another two children can go for half-price.

The 10th annual Kids Week launches with a series of free performances in Covent Garden by the casts of shows including Wicked, Mary Poppins and Chicago.

Fisher, 24, who won the BBC talent show How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? said the ticket deal was "a fantastic opportunity".

She added: "Adults going to the theatre is a regular occurrence but for kids to have that experience as well in this way is great."
