Catwalk: Naomi Campbell and fellow models will be raising money for flooding victims

Naomi Campbell is to hold a star-studded catwalk show in the capital this month to raise money for the victims of the UK floods.

In probably one of fashion's unlikeliest collaborations, she has joined with the Rotary Club of Great Britain to organise the event - set to form the grand finale of London Fashion Week.

The supermodel has asked friends including Yasmin Le Bon, Daphne Guinness, Leah Wood and footballer Rio Ferdinand to model. According to friends, the fundraiser was Campbell's idea and follows on from a similar event she organised two years ago in New York which raised $1 million for the Hurricane Katrina campaign.

Now she has roped in Burberry, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood to supply the designs for the show at the Natural History Museum on 20 September.

The model was due to announce details of the event at a press conference in London today.

Money raised will go to the Rotary Flood Disaster Appeal, set up this summer in response to the devastation caused by the flooding in Yorkshire and Gloucestershire. The cash will be raised through ticket sales (ranging from £100 to £750 for a front-row seat), donations, sponsorship and an auction of the items modelled.

Campbell told the Standard: "I think this is an important opportunity to really show what the fashion community can do to help others."

A source close to the model insisted: "This was completely Naomi's idea. She's spearheading it, driving it. She's been making the phone calls to get everyone involved."

Burberry stores in London will create window displays for the event and creative director Christopher Bailey has designed a limited-edition T-shirt, with profits going to the appeal.

The estimated damage from the summer's floods is £3 billion.

Tickets will be available from Wednesday by calling 0870 243 4455 or at www.ticketmaster.co.uk
