Camden's bike party

Metro   16 Oct 2007

The free family event, organised in partnership with the Personalised Travel Planning Service 'Travel Camden', takes place at William Ellis and Parliament Hill Schools, Highgate Road, between 11am and 4.20pm. It aims to encourage residents to get cycling and use more sustainable travel options.

Activities on the day include a BMX stunt display and the opportunity for visitors to ride unusual bikes. There will also be competitions, including Bling My Bike, where children are being asked to decorate their bikes as brightly and individually as they can in this year's theme - the rainforest. Prizes include tickets to London Zoo, dinner at the Rainforest CafÈ and tickets to see The Lion King.

A 'Dr Bike' stand will also be attending the party with mechanics on standby offering free basic bicycle repairs.

The imovelondon stand will also be at the party, allowing residents to pledge their support to improving the environment in the capital.

Imovelondon is a campaign launched earlier this year to encourage people to commit to swap one car journey a week with a more environmentally friendly option.
