Strike a pose: The National Ballet are looking to discover the next Darcey Bussell

Could your daughter be the next Darcey Bussell?

Evening Standard   22 Oct 2007

The next Darcey Bussell could be discovered when the English National Ballet school holds auditions next month.

It is looking for dancers aged 11 to 12 to take up places at a new junior school opening in January.

The course will prepare the girls for entry to full-time ballet training at age 16 and is intended to bolster the work of other ballet schools. Lessons will be held after school and on Saturdays.

Jane Hackett, the ENB school's director, said: "It can be very difficult for young people to pursue their dreams of becoming a professional dancer without the right training early on.

"It is very important to us that young people from all socio-economic groups are given this chance."

Dancers can apply for scholarships and travel bursaries. The auditions will be held on 25 November.
