Remembrance Day, various venues

A number of commemorative events in the capital are scheduled, honouring all those who have lost their lives in conflict.

On Saturday, the Royal Albert Hall will be hosting the Festival of Remembrance.

Starting at 2pm, the service includes a two-minute silence. The day features a matinee show and a later, evening performance attended by the Royal Family.

The Royal Albert Hall also plays a central part in proceedings on Armistice Day itself with a performance of John Foulds's 'World Requiem'.

The piece was hugely popular during the 1920s and 11 November will be the first time in 91 years it has been performed.

The focus on Sunday will be switched to Whitehall for the Cenotaph Parade.

The Cenotaph was designed by Edward Lutyens and unveiled in 1920. Wreaths are placed annually on the steps by representatives of state, church, armed and auxiliary forces.
