Christmas wheely is coming!
Georgina Littlejohn, London Lite27 Nov 2007
Londoners will be given a chance to view the city from the top of the capital's biggest park this Christmas.
Locals and tourists alike will be able to take in spectacular views from the top of a 180ft observation wheel with a full 360-degree panoramic view above Hyde Park.

The wheel is part of the park's Winter Wonderland, jointly sponsored by London Lite, which also includes Europe's largest outdoor ice rink, funfair rides, a German Christmas market, cafes and bars and carol concerts.
Although half the size of the London Eye, the Winter Wonderland Wheel offers people the chance to view the city from a very different perspective.
Each of its 40 pods holds six people for a 13-minute ride.

Really don't bother - it's cheap and tacky. I went on Saturday and was really disappointed that I'd turned out in the cold and the rain. It's a low-grade funfair with some over-priced stalls selling old (un-German!) toot. The wheel is pretty - best viewed from some warm bar from afar I reckon though!

Carlyle, you might want to try going home from Victoria instead then - closer to Hyde Park and has more trains going to Croydon...

I'd love to go on it! Is it open late at night? Sounds worth a trip to the capital in spite of difficulties getting home from Waterloo the last we tried in 2001! Let's hope my friend Mayor Ken has made it easier for us in Souf London!
