Burns Night, 25 January

Large parts of the capital will be downing whisky and scoffing haggis as they get ready to celebrate Burns Night on 25 January.

A variety of establishments have events planned on or around the night, in honour of the poet Robert Burns.

World-famous department store Harrods will be entering into the spirit with a special night that includes whisky tasting and a traditional Burns supper, where smoked haddock soup is on the menu.

Scottish country dancing club, The Celidah Bar are hosting an evening with live music from Scottish band Malinky. If this wasn't enough, the promise of free haggis should attract the masses.

For those with more expensive tastes, The Albannach restaurant are offering a six course gourmet supper, where a piper will also be on hand for the ritual of piping in the haggis.
