Top acts, including Hard-Fi, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly and Patrick Wolf are on the bill for this year's Love Music, Hate Racism Carnival. The music event will take place in Victoria Park on April 27.

Other bands confirmed are The Good, The Bad & The Queen, R&B singer Jay Sean, Radio 1 DJ Nihal, The Paddingtons and Poly Styrene of X-Ray Spex who opened the 1978 Carnival.

Hard-Fi said, "I think people sometimes try to just brush aside racism and hope it will go away, but you need to get your voice heard. Music brings people together, racism divides."

A host of speakers will also address the crowd; underlining the anti-racism message. Veteran campaigner Tony Benn, trade union leaders Derek Simpson from Unite and Mark Serwotka from PCS, National Union of Students president Gemma Tumelty and members of the family of murder victim Anthony Walker will be amongst speakers.

The Carnival has been timed to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the 1978 Rock Against Racism (RAR)/Anti Nazi League (ANL) carnival and march. As with the original there will be an Anti Nazi League-organised march on the day, starting at 10am at Weavers Fields London E2.

Rock Against Racism founder Red Saunders said, “The passion and sense of cultural solidarity that Rocking against Racism brought to a generation of youth 30 yrs ago, is set to ignite a new generation with today's vital music.”

The event will be celebrating multicultural London, urging people to use their vote just four days ahead of the elections for the Mayor of London and the London Assembly.
