Hyde Park will be transformed into an alternative airport on June 7 for Red Bull Flugtag.
Up to 40 teams of fearless inventors will contend for the winner's prize by designing, constructing and flying their man-powered machines into The Serpentine lake.
This will be a celebration of invention which will enourage light-hearted competition. Teams like Extreme Trifle and the Blonde Bimbos will fly their home made machines and launch them from a 20-foot ramp into the chilly waters below - all to win the coveted title of Red Bull Flugtag Champion 2008.
The competition will be judged on distance flown and level of creativity. Points will also be awarded for the entertainment value of the pre-flight performance. Originality will be key when trying to sway the votes of the celebrity judges and crowd.
