James Blunt, the Ting Tings and Chaka Khan have been signed up to headline a month-long free music festival in London.

The iTunes Festival: London, organised by computer firm Apple, will take place at Koko in Camden.

It opens on 1 July with American rock/hip-hop band N*E*R*D, and runs until 28 July. A total of 60 gigs will be held across 31 evenings.

Tickets will only be available via an online contest and all shows will be recorded and sold by Apple via iTunes.

Other acts scheduled to appear include Death Cab For Cutie, Feeder, CSS, and I Was A Cub Scout, with more names still to be announced. Last year's inaugural event was held at the ICA in The Mall and hosted artists such as Sir Paul McCartney and Amy Winehouse.

Oliver Schusser, director of iTunes Europe, said: “Last year's festival was a huge success but we decided we want to do things bigger and better this year.

Apple has promised fans a range of new songs and exclusive cover versions. “It's a great opportunity for people, as they can go to the gig, then go home and download the music the next day,” said Mr Schusser. “We are always very keen to work with artists to try out new collaborations and ideas.”
