Get a taste for it: try Malaysian food

Malaysia Week 2008
Potters Fields Park
30 July – 3 August 2008
11am – 9pm

Visit Potters Fields Park from July 30 to Aug 3 for Malaysia Week. You'll get a taste of the popular destination with Malaysian food, crafts, handicrafts and cultural performances.

See how designs from Southeast Asia's colourful batik and luxurious songket and tenun weavings have transformed modern fashion at the shows taking place throughout the event. Or if you prefer getting involved with the fun join the Dance With Us sessions and learn how to perform – Malaysian style.

Exhibits and live works by respected artists will be on display at the arts and paintings bazaar hosted by the National Art Gallery of Malaysia. Families are encouraged to take part in the art games that will be set up.

When you feel peckish check out The Tropical Buffet; offering an array of exotic fruits and authentic dishes.

It's not just the park that is being transformed for Malaysia Week. Covent Garden's Odeon Cinema will screen Malaysian productions, with the chance to meet the directors and cast. The opening ceremony is on July 31. Art exhibition, SEMESTA, will also be at the La Galleria from 31 July - 10 August 2008.

So that should be plenty to keep you up to date on South East Asian culture. But for those who want to further their experience, there will be the opportunity to book on-the-spot value tour packages at the park's travel fair or to win flights to Malaysia. Don't miss out.
