TRISHNA
What to expect
Indian cuisine with a modern twist. Brick Lane-style curries are strictly off the menu. Trishna specialises in coastal South West Indian food which is presented simply. The dishes are full of flavour and it's a good idea to share to get a taste of the selection of seasonal fish, crustacea, meat, poultry and vegetables.
Hot dish
The char grilled wild tiger prawns with mushrooms and dill are delicious. A great vegetarian option is the roasted aubergine marinated in Tamarind, paneer and peanut. At £32.50 the tasting menu is good value for money. But make sure you're hungry, there is a lot of food on offer. Leave a little space for desert. The Mango rice pudding made with alphonso mango, sweet chilli and pistachio is a surprisingly tasty combination.
Drinks selection
Trishna insists that wine can complement Indian cuisine and its impressive bar has an extensive drinks selection. Leo Kiem has compiled a diverse fine wine and champagne list with a new world focus from niche producers. There is also a specialist range of beers including Indian and European varieties. The cocktails are a real treat and ideal for refreshing your palate. For those who want to take their drinking experience that step further, there is even a Trishna Wine Club.
Ambience
The informal atmosphere at this restaurant means it is an ideal spot for winding down after work or setting you in the mood for a relaxing weekend. A casual smart dress code should complement the modern interior. Think tumbled marble, smoaked oak and brickwork combined for a minimalist edge.
Where to find it
Tucked away in a cosy street in Marylebone village. Its central location means you can go shopping in nearby Bond Street or Oxford Street beforehand. Or pop into Marylebone's lovely boutiques for quirkier purchases.*
Cheque out
A set menu starts at £13.50 but is only available from 12-2.45pm, 6-7pm and 9.30-10.45pm. The tasting menu is £32.50. Plus drinks. Expect to pay about £50 each for a three course meal and drinks.

Very dissapointing - save your money.
Food did not live up to any of the hype, and I've tasted better from my local take away. Service was dreadfull. We were asked if we wanted a pre-dinner drink, and then the first course was immediately put on the table. 10 mins later the next course arrived, and our waiter asked if there was anything wrong with the food we hadn't had a chance to even touch. We had to send the whole lot back, and tell them to stop rushing us. We will not be going there again.
