Jim Carrey to turn on Oxford Street Christmas lights
13.10.09
Stars of Disney's new animation of A Christmas Carol will switch on London's Christmas lights as the film premieres in the capital.

Jim Carrey, who voices Scrooge, will push the button for the Disney-themed lights in Oxford Street with Colin Firth, who plays Scrooge's nephew Fred, in Regent Street.
Bob Hoskins, the voice of Mr Fezziwig, will start a fireworks and laser display.
As part of the festivities on 3 November, St Paul's Cathedral Choir will invite Londoners to join a carol sing-a-long in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record.
Hoskins said: “It's a fantastic privilege to be involved, especially as I will be starting the celebrations at St Paul's in the heart of Dickensian London.”
London will host a series of Dickensian events in the run-up to Christmas including storytelling
at Tower Bridge and British Museum talks.

The only reason that Jim Carey is turning the lights on is because he is already in the area for the premier of A Christmas Carol tonght. This Sucks, Jim Carey cant entertain a crowd for an hour and a half, surely?

I've always found the Oxford Street lights very disapointing, from Bond Street to Tottenham Court Road stations anyway. Regent street looked so much nicer last year and that was really simple.

James London.
Polite notice - I don't care what you think it makes me appear.
I dislike both Christmas and Jim Carey. Or is it compulsory to like Christmas these days?

'yet another reason for me to hate Christmas'
Polite notice - making grouchy comments does not make you appear cultured or intellectual, it merely makes you appear snide, miserable and judgemental.
- James, London
Could they do it at Christmas time? You know, kind of December-ish. Think of the money we'd save on electricity!
