Life imitated art when Sharon Stone's glamorous appearance at the Berlin Film Festival recalled Michelle Pfeiffer's famous piano scene in The Fabulous Baker Boys.

Watched by Bob Geldof, who Stone also danced with, and dozens of dinner-jacketed guests, she draped herself over a piano to kiss fellow Hollywood star Richard Gere at the Cinema For Peace gala in support of Unicef's work for children in Darfur.

In her new film, When A Man Falls In The Forest, Stone plays a depressed housewife who goes shoplifting to bring some excitement to her life, a role she found cathartic.

"It helped me to understand a lot of emotion," she said at the film's premiere.

And that scene in Basic Instinct which launched her career? She says she can live with it.

"I'm really glad that the fame and the clout that film brought me has allowed me to make other pictures and to do humanitarian work."
