Rolling Stone Sir Mick Jagger is teaming up with Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese to make a film about the music business.

Sir Mick will produce the film, The Long Play.
The singer came up with the original idea and took it to Scorsese, whose hits include Goodfellas and Raging Bull.

The pair have been developing it for several years.

It is set in the world of the music industry and spans three decades.

Jagger and Scorsese previously worked together on a concert documentary about the Stones.

The Long Play will be scripted by Bill Monahan, who wrote The Departed - the film that won Scorsese his first best director Oscar on Sunday night. The film also took home the prize for best picture.

This is not Jagger's first foray into the movie business.

He produced Second World War thriller Enigma in 2001 and has had several acting roles, most famously in the 1970 film Performance.
