The red carpet has been rolled out for superhero Spider-Man in Leicester Square.

But actor Tobey Maguire, 31, left his Spider-Man suit behind for the UK premiere of the third in the comic-book trilogy.

Kirsten Dunst, 24, who plays love interest Mary Jane Watson arrived at tonight's event without her own love interest Johnny Borrell.

The US actress batted away questions about her new relationship with the Razorlight rock star at the Leicester Square premiere.

But Dunst did reveal she was looking forward to having plenty of suitors in her old age, thanks to the movie.

She joked: "At least I'll have a lot of choices when I'm an old lady with all the boys who like Spider-Man."

The actress, wearing a black Rodarte dress said of the film: "It's been the best collaboration of them all. There's a lot of action and drama."

And she laughed: "I have no complaints about kissing Tobey in the film. He's a good kisser." Dunst denied rumours that she was planning to move to London.

Thousands lined London's Leicester Square for the UK premiere of Spider-Man 3, which had its world premiere in Tokyo earlier this month.

Maguire, wearing a smart grey suit said: "This film shows a different side to Peter Parker's (Spider-Man). It was really great fun."

Asked about doing a fourth film, he said: "I would consider it if the script was right and the right cast was in place."

But the actor said he did not have the voice to be able to carry off the part in the forthcoming Spider-Man musical.

Director Sam Raimi, who has been at the helm of all three films said: "I'm thrilled to be here. When we made the first one I never imagined that we would do three pictures."

Raimi, who was rumoured to want to make the Hobbit instead of another Spider-Man film, said he would like to keep the superhero alive with another movie.

Others attending tonight's premiere included TV presenter Graham Norton and some of the Josephs from his BBC show, singer Jamelia and her boyfriend Darren Byfield, footballer Theo Walcott, model Caprice and fashion designer Scott Henshaw.

Each time I see Toby, I think he must be Harry Potter's secret twin. Especially in Spidey2 when Dr Ock was throwing cars at him and Kirstin in the restaurant.
