Models have feelings too

By Derek Malcolm
15 Jun 2007

The peril of modelling is the issue for Fabienne Berthaud's stylish drama, with Diane Kruger at its centre giving an impressive performance.

As the woman in front of the cameras, she begins to hate the profession she loved, and particularly her demanding agent and the photographer who can't decide whether she is too old or not.

The consequence is a spell in a psychiatric clinic where her questioning parents visit her and the doctors doubt whether she is ready to leave.

The film tells us little or nothing about the model herself and that's its main defect.

But as an awful warning, and as a freeform study of a woman driven to extremes, it's original.
