Description: Deranged Lieutenant Muldoon launches a bio-chemical attack on an unsuspecting town. Soon, the local hospital is swamped with residents covered in nasty, gangrenous sores. Doctor William Block and his wife Dakota struggle to cope with the steady flow of infected patients. Sexy stripper Cherry Darling loses one of her legs in a zombie attack and is rushed to the hospital with old flame El Wray by her side. They subsequently lead the survivors, including Sheriff Hague, in a do-or-die race against time to escape from the zombie apocalypse but the advancing hordes of undead sure like the taste of human flesh.

A turn for the worse: Freddy Rodriguez and Marley Shelton in Planet Terror

Robert Rodriguez's tale of mutant cannibals bloodily running amok in Texas is, unlikely as it sounds, possibly an even worse film than Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof.

This was to have been the second half of the Grindhouse double bill which failed to ring box-office bells in America, and it copies the junk-culture epics of the Fifties right down to on-screen scratches and picture jumps.

There is Bruce Willis as a monster, Tarantino as a rapist, Rose McGowan as a gun moll with a severed leg and Jeff Fahey as the redneck owner of a diner.

There are a few gleeful moments but the movie is so indulgent and over the top that the fact that it manages to get Osama bin Laden killed will hardly raise a cheer.
