Arctic Tale

Cert: U

Description: March Of The Penguins highlighted the plight of creatures in the Antarctic. Now, this documentary attempts the same feat for the inhabitants of the North Pole, whose future hangs in the balance because of the escalating threat of global warming. Queen Latifah narrates the stories of two newborns: Nanu the polar bear cub, whose journey to adulthood is littered with tragedy, and Seela the walrus, who must learn to survive in an ocean of predators... including Nanu!

Arctic Tale
Pity: Watch it with ear muffs

This is the story of the polar bears and walruses who precariously inhabit an Arctic endangered by global warming and thus ecological disaster. It took 15 years to make.

Unfortunately what then happened was that its superb and patient photography was undermined by a soupy score and a commentary, spoken by Queen Latifah, which is as balefully irritating as you could possibly imagine.

The result is a film anybody but a small child would be well advised to watch with ear-muffs. A pity.
