Dir: Andy Tennant. Cast: Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey, Donald Sutherland, Ray Winstone

Description: On the day he is due to complete his divorce from his long-suffering wife Tess, treasure hunter Ben "Finn" Finnegan discovers evidence of a legendary, 18th-century sunken booty called The Queen's Dowry, which has eluded them all these years. When Tess fails to believe his tall tale, Finn blags his way on board the luxury yacht Precious Gem owned by billionaire Nigel Honeycutt, where Tess now works as a steward. Nigel's airhead daughter Gemma is instantly smitten with Finn and his rip-roaring tales of hidden Spanish riches, and she joins the expedition to raise the shipwrecked Aurelia and its cargo.

Insipid farrago: Mathew McConaughey and Kate Hudson team up

Look here too

In Andy Tennant’s rom-com adventure, Australia pretends to be the Bahamas, Donald Sutherland pretends to be an English toff, Ray Winstone pretends to be American and Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey pretend to be searching for Spanish treasure in the deep.

But perhaps one should not mock this insipid farrago. How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days, which also starred Kate and Matthew, proved a hit. This fishy frolic could do too, since there’s enough sun and sea, and a beautiful cruising boat, to give us all two hours of expensive holiday that we could not begin to afford.

It must have been a nice break Down Under for those taking part, especially as they were being paid for it. Some people have all the luck.
