Kiefer reflects on something sinister in Mirrors

Kiefer Sutherland is spooked by his reflection in Mirrors

This American version of a weird South Korean horror film has Kiefer Sutherland (looking decidedly toxic these days) as an NYPD detective whose drinking has led him to resign from the force and leave his wife and kids.

He gets a job as a nightwatchman at the burnt-out remains of a once- famous department store. To say things go bump in the night is an understatement.

There is something sinister in the myriad mirrors left behind and whatever kind of ghostly apparition appears before the sad-sack ex-detective is clearly out to get him.

Filmed almost entirely in Romania by Alexandre Aja — who did the remake of The Hills Have Eyes — the story is efficient but strangely uninvolving and not nearly as scary as the Korean version.

This sort of thing simply doesn’t work as well in America, even when it’s shot in vampire country.
